That didn't take long
I’ve officially been replaced as Milo’s favorite person in this house. Yesterday morning, the kid came running into our bedroom while I was still in bed. “Hi Mama!” he chirped. He started to climb on the bed, then stopped half way up. “Where the baby? Where baby go?” he asked. I told him the baby was in the living room with Mimi (my mom). “Oh, ok,”...

Ahhhhhh
That blessed moment of zen when both of your children are taking a nap at the same time. Oh my god. It’s definitely time to eat a bowl of ice cream before the toddler wakes up and demands that you share.

And another thing...
Happy birthday to my big boy, Milo, who turns two years old today. Sorry you got a litttle cheated out of your birthday this year, mini-dude, but judging by the entranced look on your face this morning when we introduced you to your brother, you don’t seem to mind.

Hello baby!
Just dropping in really quickly to say that Zachary Joseph was born at 10:56pm on May 22 in an astoundingly fast birth. Like, seriously fast…2 hours and 45 minutes from start to finish. Weighing in at 7 lbs, 4 oz and measuring 20 inches long, he’s beautiful and we’re totally in love. Pictures to follow over the next few days once we get home and settled. In case you were...

Don't mind me, just bitching and moaning
Hit 39 weeks this weekend. I don’t know why I’m feeling so impatient. I’m trying to be zen and calm about it, trying to intone to myself that “the baby will be born on his birthday, not when anyone else says he should be born”, but it’s not really helping. When I was pregnant with Milo, I remember being a little sad toward the end that my special alone time with...

Despite the rain here today, I decided that the kid and I would take a walk up to Target. You know, because when you’re 38 weeks and 4 days pregnant (not that I’m counting or anything), walking to Target in the rain sounds like a great idea, right? I’m feeling so restless this week that I can’t stand the idea of sitting around, but I’m so unfocused and attention...

Best Mother's Day present ever
My kid is taking a nap!! My kid is taking a nap!! On a Sunday! It has seriously been…I don’t know, maybe a month or so since he took a nap on the weekend. He naps like a champ during the week, but has been on total nap strike on the weekend. He doesn’t cry or anything, he just refuses to sleep and yells and sings and bangs on the wall until we give up. I guess the excitement of...

Priorities
Hair cut, colored and highlighted in a very subtle way that will grow out nicely until I can make it to another hair appt in approximately…6 months or so? Legs waxed. Mani/pedi. New mascara purchased. Ok, I’m ready to have this baby now. (What can I say, my priorities are a little different with baby #2.)

WatchWatch
I pulled the mirror out to the living room yesterday when I was trying to take some photos of my big pregnant self. I put some kids music on so he’d stop trying to photobomb me, but that pretty much backfired immediately when Mr. Hambone took over for a few minutes. I guess you’re never too young to start watching yourself dance in a mirror.

He did eventually take a quick break from scowling at the finger paint to do a quick dance to The Headcoatees this morning. After I stopped recording, he had a brief meltdown because “da-ye” was in the shower. Or something, I don’t know.
